Summer Festivals
The flames from countless bonfires light up the shortest night of the year --the mythical night of San Juan, marking the arrival of
the summer solstice, when anything and everything can happen, when herbs have magical properties, and man's love knows no bounds. But
earlier, on June 13th, in many Spanish villages, homage is paid to San Antonio de Padua, paradoxically as it may seem, for he was a native
of Lisbon who lived for many years in Padua, where indeed part of his widely scattered remains lie. He died on 13th June, 1231 and although
his assistance is sought for many causes, his influence is particularly important in the search for lost objects, and for this reason,
girls usually trust in him in their search for a husband.
